Falmouth Varsity Shuts Out Gray-New Gloucester

​Falmouth defeated Gray-New Gloucester 8-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Robbie Armitage struck out Eli Winchester to finish off the game.

Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity secured the victory thanks to five runs in the fourth inning.

Falmouth Varsity's big inning was driven by a single by Max Fortier, a triple by Griff Aube, a walk , a walk by Colin Coyne, and a groundout by Robbie Armitage.One bright spot for Gray-New Gloucester was a single by Will Shufelt in the second inning.

Cam Guarino (4-0) earned the win for Falmouth. He pitched six innings, giving up zero runs, four hits, striking out nine, and walking zero. Armitage recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity. Zack Mann took the loss for Gray-New Gloucester. He went three and a third innings, allowing five runs, and five hits.

Falmouth had eight hits in the game. Reece Armitage, Aube, and Garrett Aube each collected multiple hits for Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity. Aube, Aube, and Armitage all had two hits to lead Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity. Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Fortier led the way with two.
