Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity takes early lead in 5-2 win over Freeport

Three first-inning runs helped Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity to a 5-2 win over Freeport at Freeport HS on Friday.
Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity scored in the first on an RBI double by Robbie Armitage, a fielder's choice, and a sacrifice fly by Caleb Lydick.
Cam Guarino (2-0) got the win for Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity. He allowed two unearned runs over seven innings. He struck out nine, walked one and surrendered seven hits.
Jack Davenport took the loss for Freeport. He pitched seven innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity matched its one-run third inning with one more in the fourth. In the third, Falmouth Yachtsmen Varsity scored on an RBI double by Connor Aube, plating Colin Coyne.
One run in the bottom of the third helped Freeport close its deficit to 4-1. An RBI single by Peter Lamagna triggered Freeport's comeback. The Freeport threat came to an end when Guarino finally got #55 to strike out.
One run in the bottom of the fifth helped Freeport close its deficit to 5-2. An RBI single by Jack Davenport gave Freeport life.
